Moto G – is it the best budget smartphone in the market now ?

….and it’s finally landed in India. Yes, the Moto G is here. In a first of its kind of launch in India Motorola and Flipkart have come together to launch the phone online in India. As reported earlier, the phone will initially be available exclusively on Flipkart and Motorola will take care of after sales service.

It must be noted that Motorola is kind of making a comeback to the Indian market after it quit its operation following its acquisition by Google. The phone is getting some rave reviews and is making good noise wherever it’s launched. So what’s so special about the Moto g and why everyone is so excited about it?

Let me be very clear. No, it’s not the flagship device of Motorola. It doesn’t come with any groundbreaking or gimmicky features and it isn’t the best looking device out there. Then what makes the Moto g so special. The answer is its price. Yes, the Moto g is available for just INR 12,499 for the 8GB model and the 16GB model will cost you INR 13,999. Combine that price with the specs, the guaranteed SW updates (which is rare at this price point) and the Motorola brand makes it the perfect budget phone.

The Moto g comes with a brilliant 4.5” HD display with Gorilla glass 2 protection. Under the hood there is a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB RAM, 8GB/16GB onboard storage and a non-removable 2070mAh battery. There is no memory card slot for extending the storage. The phone runs on Android 4.3 with guaranteed 4.4 KitKat update within a few weeks. We would have liked the device to have come with 4.4 out of the box as Motorola is already pushing the 4.4 update to the phone in many markets but given the price and the competing devices still running 4.2.2 with no update in sight we are happy with it.
On the back there is a 5mp AF camera with flash and a 1.3mp camera is given at the front for the occasional Skype calls and selfies.

So, the big question is this the perfect phone for me? The answer will be Yes and No. No, if you want a flagship device with top of the line specs, brilliant camera and are ready to spend a fortune. But if you want a decent budget smartphone with a good performance then look no further, the Moto G is perfect phone for you.

Motorola hits bulls eye with Moto G pricing, available on Flipkart tomorrow for INR 12499

Just before the official announcement, the much awaited Moto G smartphone gets a price tag. The 8GB model is available for 12499 while the 16GB variant will cost 13999. Both the models are listed on Flipkart. It must be noted that Initially the Moto G will be exclusively available only on Flipkart.

Considering the impressive specifications and the rave reviews the phone has received, Motorola has done a great job with the pricing of the device. The phone will be directly competing with the likes of recently launched Lava Iris Pro 30 and the Micromax Canvas Turbo.

Also, its worth mentioning that Flipkart is also running a few offers to mark the launch of the Moto G like 100% cashback in the form of store credits to 70% off on shells. These offers will be available only on the launch day i.e. tomorrow.
