Nokia’s first Android phone to be called Nokia X, expected to be launched in India during IPL 7

The much anticipated android phone from Nokia leaked again yesterday courtesy evleaks. The leaked press image shows the budget droid from Nokia in green confirming the official name as Nokia X.

The phone marks a change in strategy for Nokia as it has till now only concentrated on the Windows Phone OS for its smartphones. This will be first ever device from Nokia running on android OS. However it must be noted that the Nokia X will be running a forked version of android (like Kindle Fire tablets from Amazon) and will not be supporting any of the Google apps and services including the play store.

Also, a report published by BGR India says that the phone has already been seeded to top developers in India and is expected to be officially launched during the IPL 7 with huge marketing. The report also mentions that Nokia has created an app store for the phone and has already managed to get most of the top 100 android apps in it.

Nokia is expected to place the phone between the Asha and Lumia 520 and will most probably be pricing it sub 7k.

Nokia X (a.k.a Nokia Normandy) rumoured specifications:
